The Tender Land Curriculum Guide

INTRODUCTION

In partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District, education specialists from The Tender Land collaboration have worked together to create this Curriculum Guide for teachers and educators. Encompassing grades K through 12 and covering subject areas in art, history, music and science, this Curriculum Guide contains 19 lesson plans, based on the California content standards and listing Indicators of Achievement, Materials, Vocabulary, Preparation, Discussion, Activity, Assessment, Culmination, Extensions and contact information for related field trips.

The lesson plans are presented at specific grade levels, but are easily adaptable to other grades and subjects. While the lessons accompany and compliment The Tender Land festival, they were designed to have a life of their own beyond the festival period.

The following are the main messages of The Tender Land:

The Tender Land Partners encourage you to explore these issues with your students, and welcome you to discover and enjoy the festival. The Partners gratefully acknowledge the support of Kathleen Duba, Deputy Superintendant, PUSD, and the dedication and expertise of Paula Rao and Judy Trefry, whose contribution to this effort was invaluable.
